UISG Scholarships

At the Utahloy International School Guangzhou (UISG), we are committed to fostering a community that embraces the diversity and uniqueness of each individual and commits to the International Baccalaureate Continuum.

It is our pleasure to extend to you our invitation to become a part of our inquiry-driven learning community and take advantage of our scholarship programme. Tailored to UISG’S IB Middle Years Programme (ages 11-16) and Diploma Programme (ages 17-18), our programme caters to a wide range of passions and interests. We take pride in offering scholarships worth over 160,000 RMB tuition fees to Y10 and Y12 students accepted into our programme, giving them the opportunity to start their journey with us.

Year 10 ScholarshipYear 12 Scholarship

Application Criteria for Y10 Scholarship

Re-enrolling Y10 Students (2024-2025)

– Excellent attendance and punctuality record since enrolling at UISG
– Academic excellence and growth
           – Consistency across all subject areas of final grade “5” and above
           – MAP growth tests indicate overall growth trends in Language Usage and Reading
– Language capacity: Language A in language 1 and 2, or Language A + 
– Language B (at a capable or proficient level)
– Contributions to service outside the classroom to include:
           – One or more season’s consistent involvement in either/both a competing sporting team, performing arts ensemble, including excellent attendance record for training/rehearsal
           – Service as Action records fully up to date and all objectives met since enrollment in the MYP
– (optional) recipient of a Learner Profile award at some point during the 2023-24 academic year.
– (optional) leadership role within House system or Student Council

New Y10 Students

– Two years of prior academic reports, indicating excellent attendance and punctuality

– Academic excellence over the two proceeding years across all subject areas

– Language capacity: Language A in language 1 and 2, or Language A + 

– Language B (at a capable or proficient level)

– Contributions to service outside the classroom to include:

            – Evidence of at least two years participation in a sporting and/or musical ensemble

            – Evidence of community spirited involvement in a leadership or role-modelling capacity

– The results of the entrance test will be counted.

Two written pieces must accompany each application. One of the essays must be in English. Each paper should be in the range of 250 to 300 words.


Essay prompts:
UISG values its commitment to developing balanced, caring, and reflective learners. In one of your essays, write how you have demonstrated one of these attributes. In the other paper, which must be written in another language, choose how you would like to develop one of the other attributes further.

Y12 graduates, UISG has prepared up to 6 scholarships.

UEF Special Recognition Award
(RMB 10,000)

The UEF Special Recognition Award is presented to a Year 12 student who exemplifies the UEF mission by being creative and innovative, caring for others in the community, being environmentally responsible, and a person who exemplifies both Eastern and Western values. The UEF Special Recognition recipient is a role model to those around them.

UISG Global Citizenship Award
(RMB 10,000)

Global citizenship is social responsibility and engaging in global civic action. It deals with our uniqueness, our commonalities and stewardship of the planet.

Valedictorian
(RMB 10,000)

There are two valedictorians, one female and one male, who are selected from the graduating class to give the valedictory address at the Graduation Ceremony. The Secondary teachers select the valedictorians after a shortlist is created by the Secondary Leadership Team.

Top Scholar Award
(New Award RMB 10,000)

The UEF Special Recognition Award is presented to a Year 12 student who exemplifies the UEF mission by being creative and innovative, caring for others in the community, being environmentally responsible, and a person who exemplifies both Eastern and Western values. The UEF Special Recognition recipient is a role model to those around them.

Wolves Athletics Legacy Award
(New Award RMB 10,000)

A prestigious recognition given to one graduate who has shown remarkable achievements and contributions in the field of athletics during their time at UISG. This award acknowledges individuals who have actively participated in multiple sports, preferably for longer durations, demonstrating unwavering dedication and commitment to athletic pursuits. The recipient of this award must have a minimum attendance of 2 years at UISG, with a preference of 4 or more years, indicating their enduring involvement and loyalty to the school’s athletic programmes.

Dr John Clark Art Institute of the Orient Award for the Arts
(New Award RMB 10,000)

For Visual Arts and Performing Arts (Music, Theatre)

This award is funded by a generous donation from former UEF consultant, Dr John Clark. A prestigious recognition given to one graduate who has shown remarkable development, perseverance, and commitment in the field of the Arts during their time at UISG. The award acknowledges individuals who have actively sought artistic opportunities, demonstrating unwavering dedication and commitment to creative pursuits. The recipient of this award must have a minimum attendance of 2 years at UISG, with a preference of 4 or more years, indicating their enduring involvement with the Arts programme at the school.

We encourage students with a track record of success, to send in their application form no later than 4:30 pm, Friday 1st Aug, 2025

Existing Year 9 students, application deadline 4:30pm, Saturday 31 may, 2025.
