GUANGZHOU, China, September 30, 2025 – Last week, the Grade 11 class of Utahloy International School (UIS) returned from an incredible five-day educational journey to Beijing, filled with deep historical insights, cultural immersion, and meaningful community service. From September 22 to 26, the students traded their campus in Guangzhou and Zengcheng for the ancient capital of China, creating memories and learning lessons that will last a lifetime.
「BEIJING JOURNEY」
The trip was meticulously designed to bring their studies of history and global citizenship to life. Students walked in the footsteps of emperors along the majestic Great Wall of China, explored the vast imperial power of the Forbidden City, and reflected in the serene beauty of the Temple of Heaven. Each site visit was more than just a tour; it was a tangible connection to the rich tapestry of China’s past, allowing students to appreciate the architectural marvels and historical narratives they had learned about in their textbooks.

Beijing Trip
A core component of the UIS ethos is service learning, and this trip provided a powerful platform for students to engage directly with the local community in Beijing. Through thoughtfully organized service opportunities, students rolled up their sleeves and contributed to meaningful projects. These hands-on experiences fostered a spirit of global citizenship, empathy, and a deeper understanding of their role in a wider community, turning theory into impactful action.

Service Learning

Of course, no cultural immersion is complete without a taste of the local cuisine, and the students were treated to a delicious culinary tour of Beijing. Their taste buds embarked on their own adventure, enjoying everything from the interactive fun of a Mutton Hotpot dinner and the iconic Peking Roasted Duck to the homely comfort of Old Beijing-style lunches and the diverse flavors of Sichuan and other regional Chinese cuisines.

Local Cuisine
After each packed day of exploration and service, students relaxed and recharged at the comfortable Holiday Inn Express Hotel Beijing, their home-away-from-home for the four-night stay.
This annual Grade 11 trip is a cornerstone of the Utahloy International School’s commitment to holistic education, designed to broaden students’ horizons and develop them into well-rounded, culturally aware global citizens. The success of the Beijing 2025 camp is a testament to the school’s commitment to providing education that extends far beyond the classroom walls.
