Class of 2026 Offer Highlights
At UISG, we believe every student is Unique, grows in an Inclusive community, achieves Successful outcomes, and embraces a Globally Aware mindset as they step into the world.
We are thrilled to announce that Bella Kim, a member of the Class of 2026, has distinguished herself among a highly competitive pool of global applicants and secured undergraduate offers from two world-renowned universities: Tohoku University (Applied Marine Biology) and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) (BSc in Ocean Science and Technology). These two impressive offers mark a brilliant culmination of her high school journey.

Unique
A Global Offer with Only 8 Seats
Bella’s first offer comes from Tohoku University’s Future Global Leadership (FGL) Programme – the Applied Marine Biology major.
For the 2026 entry cycle, this programme admitted only 8 international students worldwide. Against outstanding candidates from across the globe, Bella earned her place as one of the eight, thanks to her solid academic background, genuine passion for marine science, and distinctive personal experiences.
About Tohoku University:
- #102 in the QS World University Rankings 2027, solidly among the world’s top 100 institutions
- Ranked #1 in Japan in the Times Higher Education Japan University Rankings for five consecutive years
- One of Japan’s first government‑designated “Universities for International Research Excellence” – a national endorsement of its research calibre
A place among only eight globally is a testament to Bella’s irreplaceable Unique spark.
GRADUATE
Successful
Two Elite Offers That Prove Her Calibre
If one offer is a stroke of luck, two top‑tier offers are a resounding validation of ability.
Bella’s second offer comes from HKUST’s BSc in Ocean Science and Technology.
About HKUST:
- #33 in the QS World University Rankings 2027
- #2 in the Times Higher Education Most International Universities ranking 2025
- #19 in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, ranking first in HongKong SAR and China for two consecutive years
The Ocean Science and Technology programme offers students a comprehensive grounding in marine biology, chemistry, and physical oceanography, along with the option to pursue an extended major in Artificial Intelligence – blending marine research with cutting‑edge technology. This interdisciplinary direction is exactly what Bella aspires to.
From Tohoku’s ultra‑selective cohort of only 8 international students to HKUST’s world‑ranked #33 institution and its top‑tier marine programme, Bella has truly defined what it means to be Successful.
GRADUATE
Globally Aware
From UISG to the World Stage
Two offers, two countries/regions, two distinct academic traditions and cultural contexts. Bella’s choices themselves are the very embodiment of Globally Aware. In addition to these offers, Bella is also actively applying to universities in South Korea, and we expect that she will have even more options available to her later in the year.
From in‑class inquiry to the strategic planning of the university application season, UISG is committed to building bridges for every student to reach the world. Bella’s growth would not have been possible without the dedicated support of our IB DP Coordinator and College Counsellors – who accompanied her every step of the way, from course selection and activity matching, to essay polishing and university research. Every milestone reflects the collective strength of the UISG community.

Once again, congratulations to Bella Kim! May she carry the academic rigour and exploratory spirit cultivated at UISG as she sails into the vast field of marine science – and from UISG, onward to an even wider world.
