On Friday, October 25th, the UISG community came together to celebrate the annual United Nations Day. This event was a vibrant display of the diversity that makes our school truly special.
The festivities began with a Traditional Clothes and Countries Color Parade on the basketball court. Students, parents, and teachers proudly represented their home countries, donning unique and traditional outfits. The lively procession featured the colors of many nations, waving proudly in the breeze as the crowd erupted in cheers and applause.
Parade of classes
After the parade, the community gathered at the BBC to welcome the children with a heartwarming performance, “Hello to All the Children of the World.” Wolf cubs from different classes showcased their talents, enchanting the audience. It was an inspiring showcase of the rich cultural heritage our students bring to campus, reminding us of the value of embracing differences and coming together to learn from one another.
Our Year 2 students, along with supportive teachers and parents, transformed the court into a vibrant cultural expo. Booths representing various countries transported visitors to distant lands. The wolf cubs eagerly collected stamps in their passports, immersing themselves in diverse customs and traditions. Each stop featured traditional games, fascinating artifacts, and hands-on art projects, sparking creativity and engagement. The air was alive with laughter and the excitement of new discoveries, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The highlight of the event was the opportunity to sample a diverse array of signature snacks, drinks, and delicacies at our International Buffet. Food is not merely a means of sustenance; it is a reflection of a people’s history, customs, and shared identity. While we may use different ingredients and techniques, we all share a common appreciation for good food, a true testament to our shared humanity.
United Nations Day at UISG is more than just a celebration of diversity; it is a testament to the power of unity. By embracing our differences and finding common ground, we strengthen the bonds that hold our community together. It is a day that reminds us that, despite our diverse backgrounds, we are all part of the same global family. This event celebrates the richness of our cultural diversity and the transformative power of unity in cultivating peace.
