Summer

At Utahloy International School Guangzhou (UISG), learning doesn’t take a break for summer—it grows even stronger. This week, our Wolf Cubs, Early Innovators, and Innovators stepped into the role of Planet Protectors, exploring how their choices can shape a greener future. Through immersive, cross-curricular experiences and real-world challenges, students developed the knowledge, creativity, and empathy that define globally minded learners.
Whether through storytelling, science experiments, robotics, field trips, or environmental art, each child had the opportunity to think critically, express themselves confidently, and collaborate meaningfully—all hallmarks of the UISG learning experience.
🐾 WolfCubs
(Ages 3–5)

For our youngest learners, Week 3 was full of wonder, colour, and joyful discovery. Children explored nature and environmental care through storytelling, music, art, and hands-on science.

They investigated concepts such as floating and sinking using everyday classroom objects, and even watched “dancing rice” in a fun vinegar-and-baking soda experiment. Stories like Walking in the Jungle inspired conversations about animals and the importance of caring for their homes.

A visit to the local zoo brought these ideas to life, as students observed butterflies and other small creatures up close.

In art, they created leaf prints and marine-themed pieces while learning why it’s important to keep oceans clean. Music and movement sessions included kung fu dancing and sing-alongs, helping children build language, rhythm, and body awareness.

Meanwhile, PE and swimming classes focused on motor development, water safety, and confidence in the pool—all taught in a nurturing, play-based environment.

🌱 Early Innovators (Ages 6–8)

Our Early Innovators made important connections between science and sustainability this week. In STEM, they learned how wind, water, and sunlight can be used to generate power. They built circuits, designed solar ovens (with mixed results due to a rainy day!)

and capped the week with a visit to the Hyundai HTWO hydrogen fuel cell centre, where they saw clean energy innovation in action and powered model cars using hydrogen.

In English, beginner students expanded vocabulary related to animals and habitats, while intermediate learners practised writing problem–solution reports focused on environmental issues. Both groups built confidence in reading, writing, and public speaking.

Technology and sustainability came together as students coded Dash robots to avoid “pollution” and complete eco-themed obstacle courses—blending creative thinking with practical coding skills. In art, their expressive paintings depicted what matters most to them about our Earth—from forests to wildlife to clean water.

Physical and swimming activities developed their strength, teamwork, and water safety skills. Music and dance celebrated Earth themes while building rhythm, expression, and confidence—perfect preparation for next week’s celebration.

🌍 Innovators
(Ages 9–11)

Older students went deeper with critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and persuasive communication. They built their understanding of clean energy by designing and constructing detailed renewable energy dioramas—complete with eco-friendly transport systems, solar-powered homes, and natural habitats.

In English, students created persuasive campaigns to raise environmental awareness, linking their ideas using formal writing structures. Class debates and poster presentations encouraged confident, informed expression.
In Digital Exploration, they tackled real-world eco-challenges by programming Dash robots and coding virtual models of recycling, planting, and navigation. These activities reinforced their understanding of sustainability while strengthening teamwork and logic.

Creative projects included foam clay animal sculptures and mosaic art—encouraging attention to detail, patience, and individual expression. Physical education focused on strategic play and swim endurance, supporting students’ physical development and resilience.
The field trip to Hyundai HTWO inspired future-focused thinking, showing students how water can become a clean power source and offering a real-life connection between science and innovation.

Summer
🐾 WolfCubs

🌱 Early Innovators

🌍 Innovators
(Ages 9–11)
