On September 27th, 2024, our DP students embarked on an unforgettable field trip to two esteemed universities in Hong Kong: HKU and HKUST.
Despite the early 6 AM start, the energy was high as 40 students and 6 staff set off from UISG. Our first stop was The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, where we joined forces with UISZ students and staff, forming a group of nearly 80.
At HKUST, admissions officers first engaged us with presentations on exciting new programs and application tips. We then toured the stunning campus, soaking in ocean views and modern architecture. A highlight of the visit swas meeting our alumni, Boseung Lee (Class of 2024 and Seungyun Jun (Class of 2024), who shared their first-year university experiences.
After a tasty meal at the university canteens, we headed to The University of Hong Kong, where we were greeted by HKU’s admissions officers. After a winding walk through the lively campus, our students were provided an engaging presentation on application strategies and up-and-coming majors by the admissions office. This was followed by an interactive Q&A with alumni, including Justin Byun (Class of 2019), Belita On (Class of 2023), Season Liem (Class of 2023), and Ariel Ju (Class of 2024), who shared insights on university life, internships, their favorite campus spots, and more.
The HKU campus, with its classical architecture and central location, offered a different atmosphere than HKUST, allowing students to compare both campuses effectively.
Though holiday traffic delayed our return, our students’ enthusiasm remained high throughout the journey back.
Campus visits like these are crucial for helping students make informed decisions about their university applications. Our College Counselling department is proud to support such initiatives, ensuring our students are well-prepared for their academic futures after UISG.
Finally, a huge thanks to admissions officers at HKU and HKUST (Kennis Tam, Ming Yu, Richard Li, and Teresa Deng) and staff supervisors (Ms Kati, Ms Priyanka, Ms Jay, Ms Kash, Ms Lindy) for making this trip possible.
