Between March 15th and 17th, UISG students participated in the third annual RAMSMUN Model United Nations Conference at AISG. Model United Nations conferences allow individuals to take on the roles of delegates from various countries to engage in discussions and create resolutions for global challenges. This experience enables participants to understand the diplomatic and decision-making procedures of the actual United Nations.
The conference theme was “striving for stability”, and our students participated as delegates and student officers in the disarmament and international security committee, and the social, humanitarian, and cultural committees. Representing various countries, they researched and explored different perspectives and sought understanding to solve issues.
Throughout the conference, our students engaged in rigorous debates negotiated resolutions and forged friendships across borders (and schools). They exemplified the spirit of collaboration and empathy, striving to find common ground amidst diverse perspectives. Each delegate and chair showcased not only their perseverance and problem-solving abilities but also their unwavering dedication to global issues and diplomacy. Beyond this, our students received 3 out of the 4 awards that were up for grabs during the conference.
If your child is interested in MUN, please have them talk to Mr. Bewza. MUN is a great opportunity for students to develop their public speaking, research, and diplomatic skills while addressing important global issues.
