I hope this message finds you well as we embark on another exciting week at Utahloy International School Guangzhou. We have several important events and opportunities coming up that I’d like to highlight for you all.
International Festival of Lights (IFOL) Tomorrow @ UISG !
Our International Festival of Lights (IFOL) is taking place tomorrow at UISG from 2 pm to 7 pm! Please join us to celebrate the incredible community event full of music, entertainment, games, prizes, and great conversations!
College Counseling: Korean University Applications
We’re thrilled to announce that Ms. Yein Oh, our College Counselor, has arranged for Mr. Kim to visit UISG from Korea to assist with the Korean University application process. Mr. Kim will host a special presentation on Tuesday after school, followed by 1-to-1 meetings with students and families on both Wednesday and Thursday. These sessions are particularly valuable for our students considering higher education in Korea.
Prom Night
Our much-anticipated Prom is this Friday! The theme this year is “A Night in Paris,” and we can’t wait to see our students dressed up and enjoying this memorable evening.
As always, we’re proud of the vibrant community we’ve built here at UISG. Your engagement and support make all these activities possible and enrich our school life immensely.

大学辅导：韩国大学申请
很高兴地通知大家，我们的大学顾问Yein Oh女士已经安排Kim先生从韩国到访UISG，以协助韩国大学的申请过程。下周二放学后，Kim先生会主持一场特别的演讲，接下来在周三和周四也将与学生和家长进行一对一的会面沟通。这些课程对考虑在韩国接受高等教育的学生尤其有价值。
毕业舞会
我们期待已久的舞会就在本周五！今年的主题是“巴黎之夜”，我们迫不及待地想看到学生们盛装打扮，享受这个难忘的夜晚。

Friday December 6th
I’m constantly amazed, surprised and feel proud of our learners, and this week has been no exception! The choir had their first performance at the Hilton Baiyun on Thursday evening…and they were phenomenal. So many smiling faces, loud voices and festive cheer. A HUGE congratulations and well done to the Primary choir and of course HUGE amounts of gratitude to Jessie and Ian for their dedication in the music classroom and to all the extra choir practices.

我常常为我们的学生感到赞叹、惊喜和自豪，本周也不例外！周四晚上，合唱团在万豪希尔顿酒店进行了首次演出……他们的表现非常出色。笑脸盈盈、歌声洪亮、节日欢呼声不绝于耳。向小学合唱团表示热烈祝贺，当然，也非常感谢 Jessie 和 Ian 老师在音乐课堂和合唱团额外练习中的奉献。

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Secondary atrium this week was filled with beautiful music, as the school string ensemble and orchestra both had the chance to practice in this space ahead of the International Festival Of Light tomorrow. There has also been the sound of rock bands echoing down from the music rooms at lunchtimes and after school, as the Secondary bands get ready for the event. Visual arts have been busy working on projects in different venues. And the Service and CAS coordinators have been working hard with students to prepare for the IFOL.
I highlight these activities because what we will witness tomorrow on stage and throughout the campus during the International Festival of Lights represents the culmination of the hard work, commitment, and dedication of both students and teachers over an extended period. It can be easy to overlook, while enjoying the music, admiring the artwork, or visiting the booths, that the process is just as significant—if not more so—than the final product. Therefore, I want to take this moment to commend all the students and teachers who have contributed to the process that supports the end result.
Science Competitions
A number of UISG students took part in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad recently. This Olympiad is organized by the British Biology Olympiad Committee (UKBC) and is officially supported by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB). 3 of the students were awarded Silver and Bronze medals, with another 4 students being Highly Commended. Congratulations to them.
In addition to external competitions, we have our own Utahloy Science Competition taking place here at school on December 17th. This competition is organised by UISG students in Year 11, and the winners in each class will make it through to the Finals.

亲爱的家长和监护人,
本周的中学楼大厅充满了美妙的音乐，因为学校的弦乐团和管弦乐队都在为明天国际灯光节练习。在午餐时间和放学后，随着中学乐队为活动做准备，摇滚乐队的声音也从音乐室里回荡下来。视觉艺术团队一直忙于在不同地点的装饰项目。SA和CAS协调员一直在与学生们也一起努力为IFOL服务工作做准备。
我之所以强调这些活动，是因为明天我们将在国际灯光节期间在舞台上和整个校园看到学生和老师长期以来辛勤工作、无私奉献的结晶。在欣赏音乐、欣赏艺术品或参观展台时，很容易忽略这个过程与最终结果一样重要——如果不是更重要的话。因此，我想借此机会赞扬所有在支持最终结果的过程中做出贡献的学生和老师们。
科学竞赛
最近，一些UISG学生参加了中级生物奥林匹克竞赛。本次奥林匹克竞赛由英国生物学奥林匹克委员会（UKBC）组织，并得到英国皇家生物学学会（RSB）的官方支持。其中3名同学分别获银奖和铜奖，另有4名同学获嘉许。祝贺他们（获奖名单见上表）。
除了外部比赛，我们还将于12月17日在学校举办我们自己的誉德莱科学竞赛。本次比赛由11年级学生组织，每个班级的优胜者将进入决赛。
