Dear UISG Families,
As we look forward to the upcoming week, we have an exciting lineup of events that promote community involvement and highlight our students’ talents. On Monday, we have the GISES Primary School Golf Tournament, along with the opening of ECAs Season 2 sign-ups and the U9 Swimming competition at CISGZ.
Thursday marks the celebration of International Mother Language Day, and I invite everyone to join us for the Secondary Talent Show and the HS Basketball game against BSG. We will also hold a workshop titled “Big Questions for Young Minds,” aimed at our EY parents. The week will conclude with Year 1 – 5 Sports Day, the ECA Fair Season 2, and the UPTA All Parents Meeting on Friday, followed by various sports events on Saturday & Sunday, including the Yr. 4/5 Basketball Jamboree and HS Tennis PRC.

GISES Swim Meet – November 13, 2024

12:00 – 13:00 Bring a picnic and enjoy lunch on the field (all children from year 1 – 5 are required to bring lunch, there will be no lunch available in the canteen)
13:15 – 15:00 Children will go back to afternoon classes and the UPTA All Parents Meeting will take place

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Professional Development
On Thursday and Friday we had two staff Professional Development days. This gave us the opportunity to meet together as teachers to discuss how we can further our understanding and implementation of High Quality Learning. There were sessions on supporting language learners, use of data, use of Teams, and Social Emotional Learning. These days are so helpful in upskilling us all as we build our ongoing professional capacity.
Competitions
A group of students headed off today for the ACAMIS maths Olympiad in Nanjing, the Cross-Country teams headed off yesterday to Chengdu for the ACAMIS meet, in two weeks’ time there is an “Art Battle” competition at CIS in Panyu, and early in December the International Science Bee takes place. These competitions give our students a variety of different opportunities to see how they fare against their peers and build community as a team.
We also have the Secondary Talent Show on Thursday November 21st – part competition and part entertainment, this should be a great showcase of our different students’ performing talents.

比赛
一队学生启程参加在南京举行的数学奥林匹克竞赛，越野代表队启程前往成都参加ACAMIS比赛，两周后在番禺的CIS将举行“艺术之战”比赛，12月初将举行国际科学竞赛。这些比赛为我们的学生提供了各种不同的机会，看看他们如何与同龄人竞争，并建立自己的团队。
11月21日（星期四）我们还将举行中学达人秀，一部分是比赛，一部分是娱乐，这应该是一个展示我们不同学生表演才能的好机会。
