Dear Early Years Families,
General Information:
Next week is Book Week! We will celebrate literacy and books with fun activities, dress up days, and mystery readers. Please check your MangeBac messages for details from homeroom teachers and the library staff so your Wolf Cub does not miss out on any fun. Here is a quick overview of the week in Early Years:
- Monday: Pajama Day
- Tuesday: Book Character Day
- Wednesday: Read My Shirt and Wacky Sock Day

- Friday: Picnic Celebration
Coming up on April 24 the Year 10 Physical Education classes will be organizing an Early Years Sports Day. For families who were with us last year in May, the event will be similar with games and stations for children to enjoy. We will group children according to their houses (Pandas, Warriors, Tigers, Dragons), and each ‘team’ will rotate through the stations with a teacher or TA to support. Parents are invited to come along and cheer on their Wolf Cub that morning.

Dear Primary Families,
Next week is Book Week! There are lots of fun activities with a book focus that will happen throughout the week, including class visits from mystery readers, D. E. A. R. (Drop Everything and Read!) and buddy reading. On Tuesday, students can come dressed as their favourite book character and on Wednesday wear a shirt that we can read.
Congratulations to the teams that have been selected to compete in the 2024 Pearl River Delta Battle of the Books on Friday, 26th April at AISG! UISG students will be competing in a friendly battle with students from six other area international schools. Good luck to the teams. The mission of Battle of the Books is to encourage and recognise students who enjoy reading and share their love of reading by connecting with the international school community.
On Wednesday 17th April, the Year 3 students will be going on a field trip. The purpose of this trip is to have an authentic learning experience, which is mainly linked to their ‘Sharing the Planet’ unit of inquiry. Students will have a hands-on experience on a farm where they can experience rewarding hard work in the outdoors whilst learning about sustainable living. They will learn about teamwork as they build a compost and understand the importance of participating in community composting at home and at school. Students will also enjoy a farm-to-table lunch using vegetables and fruit from the farm.

恭喜入选参加 4月26日星期五将在 AISG 将举行的2024年珠三角图书大战的队伍！UISG的学生将与来自其他六所地区的国际学校学生进行一场友谊赛。祝各队好运。图书大战的使命是通过与国际学校社区的联系来鼓励和认可喜欢阅读的学生并分享他们对阅读的热爱。
4月17日星期三，三年级学生将进行实地考察。这次旅行的目的是获得真实的学习体验，这主要与他们的“共享地球”探究单元相关。学生将在农场获得实践经验，在那里他们可以体验到在户外辛勤工作的回报，同时了解可持续生活。他们将在堆肥过程中学习团队合作，并了解在家庭和学校参与社区堆肥的重要性。学生还将享用使用农场蔬菜和水果制成的午餐。

15 April – 19 April (Week 30A)
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Year 12s had their last official day of school today, which was marked with a touching, poignant and joyful final assembly. This was followed by the “Grad Walk”, with the Year 12s filing out past the chorus of applause, high fives and flag waving from the rest of the student body. The Year 12s now have a week’s study leave before their exams begin on April 24th.
The long-awaited TEDx event finally took place this week. The successful event featured 2 student speakers and 2 staff speakers. Kudos to DongHyeon in Year 10 and PeiSen in Year 11 for their command of the stage and their enlightening talks.
This weekend we will be welcoming 150 educators from around China to the ACAMIS English Language Learners Conference here at UISG. There is a very impressive line-up of keynote speakers, and there are also a number of UISG teachers who are leading workshops during the conference. The Conference provides a great opportunity for Professional Development, a time to make connections between educators, and also a chance to showcase our school and its campus.
Next week is Book Week throughout the school. Secondary students are encouraged to come dressed as a favourite book character on Tuesday, and to also make sure they have a book to read throughout the week. There will be some reading buddies across the school, a book trivia event, a literary scavenger hunt, mystery readers and an opportunity to Drop Everything and Read (DEAR). This is a perfect time to promote reading and see the power and value in books.
Also next week is the UISG Rockfest, where a range of bands from different year levels get to perform in the Secondary building atrium. It is great for students to get a chance to perform to their peers, and to have a real-live audience.

下周是全校的图书周。鼓励中学生在周二打扮成最喜欢的书中角色，并确保他们在一周内都有一本书可读。学校里会有一些阅读伙伴，一个书籍琐事活动，一个文学寻宝游戏，神秘读者和一个放下一切阅读的机会(DEAR)。这是一个促进阅读和看到书籍的力量和价值的完美时机。
下周还有UISG摇滚音乐节，来自不同年级的乐队将在中学大楼中庭表演。对于学生来说，有机会在同龄人面前表演，并有真实的观众，这是很好的。
