Dear UISG Families,
As we look ahead to another exciting week, I want to first take a moment to say THANK YOU to all the Early Years families who joined us today for our first UN Day Celebration. It was truly wonderful to see so many of you come together to celebrate our diverse community. A special THANK YOU goes out to our amazing Early Years Team and parent volunteers who put in countless hours to organize this event. Your dedication and hard work made the day a memorable celebration for everyone!
Today, we also welcome back our Primary students from camp, where they have surely created lasting memories, strengthened their friendships, and probably need some rest! We can’t wait to hear all about their adventures.
Additionally, we are thrilled to be hosting the ACAMIS volleyball tournament at UISG next week. GO UISG WOLVES!
Looking ahead to Monday, we will hold a Deep Dive into Inquiry session with parents (in English). This will be an engaging opportunity to explore our inquiry-based learning approach and how it benefits our students for the future.
On Friday, please join us for our Parent Coffee Morning, where we will be focusing on the Performing Arts. This is a great chance for parents to connect and learn more about the exciting programs we have in place.

What a busy and fun week everyone has had. Camps and UN Day were incredibly exciting for all our students. I have to give a HUGE shoutout to all our teachers who make these events possible and give 110% to not only organising them but to joining in and truly showing their passion and dedication to our students. MAP Assessments
We have had a few inquiries as to the MAP assessment schedule for this year. We will have 2 times for MAP testing, August and February. Please see below for an explanation as to the rationale behind this decision:
As an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) school, our assessment philosophy focuses more on monitoring learning and using data to inform our teaching practices. This approach is aligned with the IB’s “From Principles to Practice” guide, which emphasizes that the key function of assessment is to support teaching and learning.
Based on this framework, we have adjusted the MAP testing schedule to two times per year – in August and February. This change allows us to have a mid-point assessment during the academic year, which provides valuable data that our teachers can use to identify and address the individual learning needs of our students. When standardized assessments are administered later in the year, it leaves very little time for us to respond to the results before the summer break. We made this decision based on student needs and to maximize learning time. Please also know that we have other ongoing assessments, and that MAP is only one data point of many.

Thank you to those who were able to attend the parent-teacher-student conferences this week. The home-school partnership is a vital part of the support that we can give your children, so thank you again for helping us build those relationships. If you have any feedback on the conferences please do let me know.
Last weekend our MUN students attended the SISMUN conference at Shekou International School, and of the 11 students who participated, they received 7 awards or honourable mentions between them.

Student Council Elections
Today we had the Year level representative elections for the Student Council. A number of students in each Year level stood for election and gave a speech to their Year group. The election results will be announced on Monday to the candidates. Those who stood for election will then be eligible to stand for the President and Vice President positions. They will have a week to campaign before their election on Thursday November 7th. Being on the Student Council is one of the key opportunities students have to ensure their voice is heard, and it fits directly with one of our Strategic goals of developing student agency in responsible decision making at all levels of the school [Strategic Plan 3.1]

ACAMIS volleyball
Next week on October 31st – November 2nd we are excited to be hosting the ACAMIS Boys and Girls Volleyball tournament here at UISG. Students (and coaches) have been practicing hard over the last 10 weeks in the lead-up to this event. More specific details will be sent out by Mr. Ryan, the Athletics Director, but I would like to invite and encourage parents to come and watch some of the games. On Thursday October 31st we have a School Spirit Day to help show our support for our teams. Go Wolves!
