Dear Early Years Families,
General Information:
Next week is a shortened week for children to allow for teachers to participate in valuable professional development opportunities including upskilling on Managebac, learning more about Positive Discipline, creative storytelling, and cool new technology resources. Children will be dismissed at 12:00 on Thursday 28 March and there will be no school for children on Friday.
We have a dentist visiting our school next week to do quick dental checks for any of our UISG students whose parents have given permission. Please look for Ms Michelle’s ManageBac message to fill out the form.
We look forward to seeing many of you for a fun and sporty UEF Family Day tomorrow!

Dear Primary Families,
Well done to the Year 6 Middle School category Battle of the Books team who read many wonderful books in preparation for the battle that took place on Wednesday 20th March. The team showed teamwork and team spirit on the day.
BOEN Dental Clinic will be on campus on Tuesday 26th March to give a free dental check up to all Primary students whose parents have given permission.
The Utahloy Action Committee (UAC) will be hosting a charity sale during recess on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th March to raise funds for Guangzhou Gold Ribbon Special Children Parent Centre, which supports children battling cancer. As part of our fundraising efforts, UAC members visited homerooms to promote the event and provided more information to students. We kindly ask for your support in allowing your child to bring cash on the days of the sale to contribute to this meaningful cause. Ice creams are 10RMB, bracelets range from 3 to 5RMB and hair accessories range from 6 to 8RMB. Together, we can make a positive impact in the lives of these children in need.
On 28th March, Ms Sharon will be running a parent workshop on Anger Management for Kids and Parents, we look forward to seeing many Primary parents attending this valuable workshop.

Students will be dismissed at noon on Thursday 28th March and there will be no school for students on Friday 29th March.
I look forward to welcoming our Primary families to Family Day on Saturday, it will be an exciting day for meeting with families and teachers and being active together.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As you know, Thursday March 28th is a half day for students, with school finishing at 12, and Friday March 29th there is no school for students. This gives us time as teachers to meet together for Professional Development. Our key focus for these two days is on curriculum development. The IB recommends that schools regularly undergo “curriculum reviews that contribute to coherent vertical articulation of written, taught, and assessed curriculum”, and we will be working on this to continue enhancing the learning experience for our students. To do this, we consider what students need to be successful at the end of their Diploma years, what students have studied in the PYP, and how we can embed the knowledge, skills and content throughout the MYP to foster student success. We will also be looking at Universal Design for Learning, we will have further training on the use of Managebac, and we will be starting on one of our policy reviews.
This week Middle School students were involved in an all-day volleyball tournament, hosted here at UISG, and a couple of Year 9 students represented the school at the Battle of the Books competition in Shenzhen. Next week, it is the turn of the Seniors to represent the school at the GISSA Cup football tournament at BSG.
Tomorrow, of course, is the UEF Family Day, and I hope that many of you will be able to join us for this fun day.
