Dear UISG Families,
I’m thrilled to share the exciting events happening on our campus this week. On October 14th, we’re hosting a special Korean parent session on “Dive into inquiry.” This is a great opportunity for our Korean-speaking families to learn more about UISG’s inquiry-based approach!
The excitement continues on October 15th with music recitals, championship matches, and more. We will also celebrate our secondary students’ academics with progress reports on October 16th.
In the days ahead, there are additional reasons to cheer – from our middle school footballers competing in the GISSA finals to our swim team hosting an invitational, and our athletes representing UISG at PRC Volleyball championships. This is just a glimpse of the remarkable events unfolding. I look forward to seeing our community come together to support our students’ achievements.

Friday October 11th
I hope you all had an amazing and relaxing holiday last week. I enjoyed some beach time with my family, including our dog, JoJo, who we discovered is scared of the sea!
Now we are back, it’s been a busy few days, it may only have been 4 but we crammed a lot in, including welcoming students back onto campus, Year 2 and 4 celebrations of learning, and lots of sports fixtures this week. Well done to our U11 boys and girls in their basketball tournaments, they represented UISG so well this week.
Lost and Found Items
Students went through all lost and found items today to claim anything they may have lost over the last couple of months. After today, all nameless lost and found items will be donated or thrown away, depending on the condition of the item. We will go through this process once a month as a way of returning items to their rightful owner.
Please remember to label all student items so we can return lost items to them.
UN Celebration Day for Early Years
We are excited to invite you and your family to our upcoming UN Day celebration on Friday, October 25th. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about and experience the rich diversity of cultures represented in our school community.
We are asking parents to bring food from their countries that can be shared with the students (please note that we are unable to accommodate any items containing nuts). The food will be displayed as a buffet, and the children will have the chance to try different dishes from around the world.
Additionally, we are seeking volunteers who would be interested in having a booth to showcase or teach something about their country. This could include demonstrating a traditional game, sharing a simple recipe, or presenting a cultural craft. If you or someone you know would like to participate, please let us know.
We are grateful for your support and involvement in making this event a success. Your contribution, whether it’s through providing a dish or volunteering, will greatly enrich the learning experience for our students.
Parent Workshops
At UISG, we value Parent Education, and we are committed to hosting workshops that are useful and engaging for all. Based on parent feedback, we are trying some new ideas, the first being to have the same hands-on workshop in different languages.
We REALLY REALLY want to see as many of you there as possible! Please sign up and join us in this extremely valuable experience.

This is an interactive workshop that will involve your thinking, discussions and problem solving.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
In the Secondary school, our first student reports of the year are focused on Learning Behaviours. These reports are issued on Wednesday October 16th. A student’s Learning Behaviour is a strong indicator for success, both at school and in life beyond. The Learning Behaviours correspond strongly with the IB Approaches to Learning, and also connect with the important goal of developing lifelong learners. Please take a look at the tables below which set out what the Learning Behaviours are, and also what the different levels mean when they are reported on.
There will be an opportunity to discuss this with teachers at the Parent-Teacher-Student conferences which take place on Thursday October 24th. More information about the Parent-Teacher-Student conferences (PTSCs) will be sent next week, but please keep the day free for you and your child to come in to school and meet with their teachers.
