This week the Year 10 physical education classes planned and ran a Sports Day for our Early Years Wolf Cubs. The key idea of their current unit is to build positive relationships and demonstrate social responsibility in a school community. With Parents, Teachers, Early years, and Secondary all together for a morning of fun sporting games, it was evident that their unit goal was achieved.
Our Early Years Wolf Cubs used all the skills they have developed this year in their own physical education classes to play the games and activities created by the “big kid” Wolves. The high-fives, cheering, and support from the older students to the younger ones was heartfelt and boosted the Wolf Cubs’ confidence in each activity.
This year, the Year 10 students had experience from running sports day last year as Y9. Some of the new ideas they applied were scaffolded rules for Castle Ball, which allowed the K-K1 children and the K2-K3 children to play according to their different abilities. The Secondary students also applied their own language skills to give directions in Korean, Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and English making the games easily understood to our Wolf Cubs.
A sincere and sporty thank you to the teachers, parents, and of course students for a wonderful Sports Day !
