Year 9 Visual Arts students were introduced to Chinese traditional painting, thanks to some strokes of genius from Mr. Kharismana and Mr. Bano!
This activity is part of our ongoing plan to provide students with a more diverse experience of art-making forms. At first, Mr. Bano explained the different kinds of tools and material used for this beautiful form of art — from the variety of brushes and papers, to the demonstration of using ink stone to provide a range of tonal values. He also showed some examples of his own Chinese painting.
Afterwards, students practiced different kinds of brush strokes on two different types of paper. For many of the students, this was a new and interesting artistic experience. We hope this lesson can widen their exposure of visual arts.
