October 30th – November 3rd, 2023.
The end of Autumn brings us towards many different holidays, celebrations, the hope for cooler weather, and another week’s worth of events in the ever-busy Atrium. This rotation we offered the Performing Arts in the Atrium. Thus, we welcomed one and all to Theatre – a journey of hard work, English in all its’ forms, and fun transformations into our characters!
Students (and staff) were encouraged to join in on the fun as Miss Lazareck led a table read of the film script “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” All were encouraged to bring their laptop and read along, choose a character, and enjoy some sweets from Honeydukes Sweet Shop, direct from Hogsmeade and the Wizarding World of JK Rowling. Let the massive showing off opportunities begin!
It was an intensely dramatic week for several dedicated (and fabulous) Year 9 students and teachers who joined in and read the film script. With lots of visuals and properties many of magical creatures were there in person (Teddy the Niffler, Pickett the bow truckle) and many more on paper (due to the health and safety issue for the no -maj’es). The week ended with a full house of Year 8s and 9s as the pumpkin juice was poured for a final farewell to the scripted event.
More dramatic fun will be happening on campus as the final performances for the formal Theatre students start their blocking and rehearsals for the end of semester summative assessments – public shows.
