After the students finished their Personal Projects, then ePortfolios for either Design, PHE, Drama, Music, or Visual Arts, they sat for two weeks of eAssessment. Since the exams are not as content-based as you would expect most exams to be, the focus was on revising concepts. At times, students seemed surprised at how these exams differed from the previous years’ exams, but in the end, a common phrase was “they were easier than the mocks.” The students’ experience with authentic assessments, various opportunities to communicate their learning, and an ability to independently research as lifelong learners got through the exams with a strong finish. As we in the MYP focus on the process of learning over the finished product of studying, we know we are successful regardless of results though we expect to be around or above the world average as we have been year after year.
