On November 10th our primary students had an exciting time, as they participated in the Mother Tongue assembly of the first semester.
Our French- and Hindi-speaking students from K3 – Y6 gathered in classrooms and enjoyed activities and games. Collaborating with peers across the year levels our younger and older students had great fun and celebrated their shared languages and cultures.
Our group of French-speaking students was led by Ms. Anne-Catherine Hanquet and they spent their assembly in the French primary classroom. Two of our secondary students volunteered to lead activities for the primary children, as part of their Service as Action curriculum. They played vocabulary and spelling games and competed in their understanding of the language. The primary students visibly enjoyed these activities and were fully engaged. Learning and having fun with each other, and collaborating with students from different year levels, are essential parts of our IB curriculum and are celebrated in our assembly time.
For our group of Hindi-speaking the mother tongue assembly fell into a special time of the year. Around the 10th of November, the festival of Diwali was celebrated in India and many Hindu communities around the world. Led by Ms. Zeenal Desai students embarked on a captivating journey exploring the rich traditions and stories behind this vibrant festival. From immersing themselves in mythical tales to hands-on activities like crafting Rangolis and lanterns, our students did not just learn about but experienced the essence of Diwali. Cherishing and celebrating the diverse and rich cultures here at UISG are what makes us special.,时长00:42
My special thanks go out to all secondary students who volunteered to design and run activities on that afternoon. You all did a fantastic job and really showed what amazing members of our school community you are.
