Last Friday, UISG held the Primary Talent Show, which returned to the MFH stage with a successful performance, featuring students from Year 1 to Year 6 in individual and group performances, along with some surprise items. Ethan and Xoraya took on the role of MCs at the Primary Talent Show. Parents, staff, and students all enjoyed the afternoon which showcased a variety of acts from across the performing arts spectrum.
The show started with “Random Play Dance” from Year 4 student Selena. The UISG audience was taken on a global journey of dance: from China, with the traditional dance from Joey and Muxi and Lara, then “Colombian Cumbia” from Bella and Hernan, “The Bollywood Band” from India with Neev and Prish, “Yochre” from Japan presented by Saki, ballet danced by Athena, and the fashion dance presented by Sally and Hip-Hop group “Go Basketball” with Senna, Daniel, Jayden, Sheena, Phoenix, and Hillary, which gained the “Audience Favourite” award.
Also featured where many instrumental items from our talented Primary students, including piano, guzheng, organ and drum kit. Five solo pianists, James, Dayu, Sophia, Shawn and Doudou showed skills of the highest class, as well as Cathy and Elsa, who played a piano duet. A Primary Band made up of Faye, Bevis, Violet, and Nirvi, performed a piece from Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute “The Birdcatcher’s song”. Alisa amazed the audience with “Small Bamboo Row” played on the guzheng. Ocean filled the MFH with the power of the drum kit, while ‘pop star’ Ely shone with her vocal solo “Legends never Die”. Priscilla performed “Tabidachi” on her wonderful organ.
Not only was there magic in the dance and musical performances, but also actual magic brought to the stage by our resident Primary magicians, Senna and Shawn!Just when all was done, suddenly a surprise reached the stage: the UISG Primary teachers, who had secretly prepared four dances from different countries. First from North America, then India, later from Colombia and finally, Brazil, where all the Year 6 students joined to accompany their teachers with percussion during the Brazilian Samba. What an afternoon of Primary talent !
Congratulations to all our talented and brave performers !
