The Y5 students had a wonderful time on their camping excursion to Pak Lap in Hong Kong. Day 1 the adventure began with the trip to Pak Lap followed by some educational opportunities. The students learnt about how to leave no trace of their presence when they explore nature and how to set up, and care for their tents. They gazed at the stars before calling it a night in their tents.
Day 2 was filled with more learning experiences as the children learned some basic first aid, how to read a map, and how to set up and cook with a camp stove. The students wrapped a very long day with some time on the beach to have fun and play. They wound down the day with some fun activities and team-building before sleeping for the night in their dormitories.
Day 3 was our final full day in Pak Lap so we made the most of it! The students completed a 7 km hike to the High Island East Dam, which has been designated a part of the UNESCO geopark. After the hike the children were able to spend some more time on the beach and have a bonfire to celebrate our adventure. The students returned to their dormitories to pack and prepare for the trip back to UISG. They returned the following day exhausted, but happy. Huge thanks to CNH and all the volunteers for helping to create this unforgettable experience for our UISG students.
