Claire – Year 10 – Clean Water for All
The camp, which was located from March 22nd to 24th as Option 2 (clean water for all), gave us a wonderful memory that keeps being recalled in our minds again and again like a daydream. It was totally a satisfying and healing camp, as we could refresh ourselves from those academic and social pressures of the past few days. Among those three options for the camp of Y9 and Y10, we believe option 2 would be the most special camp due to the extraordinary activities, unforgettable campfire with some games, and two days of sleep in the tent along with the music from nature. At first, we were disappointed at the differences between the environment of our option and the other options; hence, most of us regretted the choice that we had made. However, as we get through the camp schedule, we could totally enjoy the camp without any comparisons and contrasts. And most importantly, we have learned to enjoy what we have, not always getting jealous of what others have. We believe this thought helped us to appreciate the camp more and enjoy those days in our own style. Starting from the activities of kayaking & stand-up paddle boarding to the sports activities along with the music from the loud speaker at night, everything was unforgettable and fantastic. It was a perfect opportunity for us to get to know new people from Y9, learn to be thankful for what we have, and appreciate nature. We thank the efforts of the Keru community and teachers for everything that they have done for us. Looking forward to another camp next year!
Anna – Year 10 – Clean water for All
March 22nd to March 24th were special days for us students, especially as Y10 students, as we could free ourselves from the burden of academic pressure. The camp we had was option 2 ‘Clean Water for All’ with Y9, which everybody had doubts about since we had to “camp” and stay at the tent, instead of the hotel. Most of us regretted it for the first few moments as many of our friends boasted about their hotel. However, once we got there, we all changed our minds as the activities and the opportunity to make new friends and socialize provided were incredible! We got to challenge ourselves and experience new things. From kayaking to trying Stand-up Paddleboard, each new activity uniquely challenged me and pushed me outside of my comfort zone. But it wasn’t just these activities that made the experience so unforgettable. Instead, it was new friends I met and connected with along the way. Especially, by playing sports and having conversations with them with the music on, I was able to build friendships that I will remember as lifelong memories. Looking back, I realized how lucky I was to have the opportunity to experience so much in such a short amount of time. The music, the laughter, the friendship, the activity… everything was perfect! Now that it is over, I can confidently say that it was one of the best experiences at school. I would like to thank Keru and the teachers for providing us with such a wonderful experience.
