ISMAG Rock Fest : Student Bands Take the Stage in Guangzhou！

ISMAG Rock Fest brought together music students from international schools across Guangzhou for an afternoon of community bonding and live rock music. It was hosted at The Goat in Panyu, a much-loved restaurant known for its indulgent cookie milkshakes and located near a dinosaur park and capybara petting zoo. The venue provided a setting that was informal, welcoming, and just unconventional enough to feel right for student performers stepping into the public eye.

Utahloy was represented by a diverse lineup of student bands, each bringing a distinct sound, and identity to the stage. METAPHASE opened with fun, accessible pop hits that encouraged audience participation, quickly creating a relaxed and playful atmosphere. Daeil Band followed with a crooning vocal style supported by a steady rhythm section. Willy and the Wonkas shifted the energy dramatically with raw punk rock intensity, leaning fully into speed, volume, and attitude. 7th Floor demonstrated a high level of musical precision, particularly through piano and guitar-driven arrangements of well-loved songs by Queen and Green Day. Closing out the UISG set, OVERDRIVER took an ambitious risk with a 13-minute grunge ballad, unapologetically long, emotionally layered, and a clear statement that student music can be bold rather than cautious. 

Across all of these performances, what stood out most was the students’ bravery and positive attitudes. Playing live rock music in a public venue, outside of a school auditorium and in front of an unfamiliar audience, requires confidence, resilience, and a tolerance for risk. These students stepped onto the stage fully committed to the experience, and the quality of their musicianship shone. At multiple points during the afternoon, passersby stopped to listen, many assuming that the performers were professional musicians rather than high school students. 

Just as importantly, UISG students distinguished themselves off the stage as well. They brought consistent energy, enthusiasm, and encouragement to the audience, cheering not only for their own peers but for bands from other schools as well. Their presence helped sustain the momentum of the festival and reinforced the idea that events like Rock Fest are collective experiences, not competitions.

ISMAG Rock Fest served as a reminder of why live music experiences are so valuable in education. They ask students to take risks, collaborate, and perform in real-world contexts. The festival was a shared moment of growth, joy, and creative courage.

近日，ISMAG Rock Fest 在广州番禺 The Goat 场地火热开唱。本次活动汇聚了来自广州多所国际学校的音乐爱好者，为学生们打造了一个充满创意、摇滚精神的现场舞台。The Goat 以其招牌“饼干奶昔”深受学生喜爱，周边还有恐龙主题公园及水豚互动区，轻松又充满趣味的氛围让这里成为学生首次走向公众舞台的完美场所。

Utahloy 的学生乐队阵容多元，每支乐队都带来了鲜明的风格与独特身份。METAPHASE 以轻松有趣的流行歌曲开场，积极与观众互动，迅速营造出轻松愉快的氛围。Daeil Band 随后以细腻的歌声和稳定的节奏呈现出柔美抒情的风格。Willy and the Wonkas 则将能量推向现场的高点，速度、音量与态度全开，以原始、强烈的朋克摇滚引爆全场。7th Floor 则展现出高度的音乐精准度，以钢琴和吉他为核心，用心演绎了 Queen 和 Green Day 的经典曲目。最后，OVERDRIVER 以一首时长 13 分钟的摇滚抒情曲压轴演出，其大胆、情绪层次丰富的表演也清晰地体现了学生音乐也可以勇于突破、大胆尝试，而不是拘谨保守。

在表演之中，最令人印象深刻的是表演者的勇气和朝气。他们从课堂来到公众场合，向陌生的观众表演摇滚音乐，这无疑需要强大的自信、韧性以及冒险精神。这些学生全身心投入到舞台，用音乐闪耀全场，用歌声引领观众。精彩的表演吸引着众多路人驻足聆听，并纷纷猜测他们是不是职业乐手。

同样值得一提的是，UISG 的学生在舞台之外也表现得十分亮眼。他们始终为现场带来活力和热情，不仅为本校同学加油，也为其他学校的乐队送上鼓励。他们的到场让音乐节的气氛持续点燃，高潮一波接着一波。这也再次强调了 Rock Fest 这样的活动是一种共享体验，而非一较高下的竞赛。

ISMAG Rock Fest 再次提醒我们为什么现场音乐体验在教育中是如此珍贵：学生们能在其中尝试冒险和合作，并在真实的世界中尽情地展现自我。这场音乐节满载了喜悦、创意和勇气的回忆，相信也是学生们成长过程中难忘的一晚。
