Dear UISG Families,
Happy Friday! As we wrap up another week, I want to remind everyone about the exciting UPTA Welcome Picnic happening tomorrow. I look forward to gathering as a community, enjoying delicious food, and connecting with one another in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
Additionally, as we look ahead to the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday next week, I hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating with family and friends. I am looking forward to my first time experiencing this celebration with our community (and all the Mooncake)!
A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our UISG Cross Country Team taking both 1st and 2nd place at the Cross-Country Tournament this week. Both the middle and high school teams took the top place against other schools in our region. Way to go Wolves and thank you coaches!

Xiao Xi is a long one this week, get ready…Thank you to all parents who came on campus this week to speak with teachers. It was great to see so many parents here and so many smiles as you got to share information about your children.
Parent Workshops
Coming up on September 23rd is a very important workshop on Safeguarding. We highly recommend as many parents as possible to attend. Please fill it out by 8am on Thursday 19th September 2024.
Workshop Title: Safeguarding at UISG

Description: An overview of safeguarding measures at UISG. Parents learn about the teacher training, our teacher report system, and the new anonymous reporting for students. We will look into types of child abuse and how we identify this on campus. Parents get to know how they can spot signs of abuse and how they can report this to UISG.
Year 3 – 5 Camp Talks for Parents
On Thursday 19th September, we will have Year 3, 4 and 5 camp talks presented to us by Milan, the Director of China New Horizons. The camp talks will be in the lecture theatre and will last approximately 30 minutes.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Two key highlights this week in the Secondary section, which fit with Pillar 3 of our Strategic Plan: Authentic Education and the Student Experience – The Year 11 Camp trip to Beijing; and the Dot Day activities in the atrium. These both fit well with the second strand of that Pillar – “Embed experiential and authentic learning opportunities and build relationships with the host country”.
The highlights for the Year 11s were the visits to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. Photos of the trip have been shared with the Year 11 parents through the school’s Sharepoint.
Secondary students worked collaboratively over the week to create artworks celebrating Dot Day, bringing a real buzz to the Secondary atrium and creating a sense of community.
Secondary students also had an assembly this week where they were reminded of the slogan I keep sharing with them this year – Be the Best Team Ever – in all the different ‘teams’ you are on. They were encouraged to think about how they can support, help and encourage one another. These kinds of attributes are so important for us as a school community, and also connect with our school Mission as a 3 programme IB school.

亲爱的家长和监护人,
本周中学部的两大亮点符合我们战略计划的第三支柱：真实教育和学生体验——11年级北京Camp；以及中学楼大厅的Dot Day活动。这两者都非常符合该支柱的第二部分——“提供体验式和真实的学习机会，并与东道国建立关系”。
11年级的亮点是参观天安门广场、紫禁城和长城。这次旅行的照片已经通过学校的Sharepoint分享给了11年级的家长。
中学生们在一周的时间里合作创作艺术品来庆祝Dot Day，在大厅带来了真正的嗡嗡声，创造了一种社区氛围感。
中学生本周也举行了一个集会，让他们想起今年我一直和他们分享的口号——成为有史以来最好的团队——在你所在的所有不同的“团队”中。他们被鼓励去思考如何互相支持、帮助和鼓励。这些特质对我们学校社区来说非常重要，也与我们学校作为一个3项目IB学校的使命有关。
