Week Ahead: Celebrating Our First Week Together!
Dear UISG Community,
What an incredible first week of school it has been! My heart is brimming with joy as I reflect on the energy and enthusiasm that filled our hallways, playgrounds, and campus. The excitement was contagious as our returning students reconnected with friends, and new families joined explored our beautiful campus.
Highlights of the Week:
* Welcoming New Friends: It truly warmed my heart to see our new students finding their place here. A huge shoutout to our amazing student ambassadors for going above and beyond to ensure everyone felt at home!
* Engaging Activities: The laughter and connections made during our assemblies and classroom icebreaker activities were a joy to see.
* A Passion for Learning: Our dedicated teachers have set the stage for an inspiring year ahead. Students, I encourage you to dive into your learning with curiosity and enthusiasm—there’s so much waiting for you!
Looking Ahead:
Get ready for some exciting news – Season 1 athletics kick off on Monday. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or trying something new, I can’t wait to see everyone bring their energy to the field, court, and pool.
I’m also thrilled to announce that next week, I’ll be having lunch with a group of UISG Alumni. They’ll share their university experiences, and I’m eager to gain valuable insights from their journeys and how UISG has prepared them for the world. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn from those who have walked the path before.
I encourage all of you to get involved in clubs, sports, or the arts—these are great ways to make friends and discover new passions. And don’t forget about our upcoming ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions in Primary on Tuesday and Friday, where families can connect with teachers and our leadership.
Thank you for being a part of our wonderful community. Let’s continue to carry the excitement of this week into the year ahead, supporting one another as we achieve our dreams!

Dear Early Years and Primary Families,
Welcome to our Xiāo Xi newsletter, which will be sent every Friday from the Primary Office. Xiāo Xi means ‘news’ in Mandarin and that’s what we will be sharing with you, news from the week and upcoming events and information.
It was a pleasure to welcome all new and returning students to campus on Tuesday. We celebrated the beginning of the school year with the UISG wolf, music, dancing and lots of photos!
‘Meet the Teacher’ and ‘Mix and Mingle’ Sessions
Parents are invited to ‘Meet the Teacher’ next week. These sessions will be run by the year level homeroom teachers. We are proud of our strong IBPYP programme and teachers will share our UISG teaching and learning philosophy and the strategies we use to teach students of specific ages. It is a great opportunity for parents to meet the homeroom teachers in person and see the classroom.
After ‘Meeting the Teacher’, there will be a ‘Mix and Mingle’ opportunity in the Admin Hall with the new Head of Primary and Head of School.
Here are the dates for these sessions:
K – Y3: Tuesday 20th August, 10:45am-12:00pm
Y4 and Y5: Friday 23rd August, 10:45am-12:00pm
Swimming
K – Y5 swimming lessons will start the week of Monday 19th August and finish the week of Friday 27th September 2024. Look out for more information on swimming through Managebac.
ECAs
Year 3 – 5 students enjoyed exploring the different activities on offer at the ECA this week. Please remember to sign your child(ren) up on SchoolsBuddy for the ECA’s they would like to take.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the School year 2024-25! The start of the year has seen students connecting with classmates old and new, supported by the Heads of Year and homeroom teachers. They have also been in their subject classes, building relationships with their peers and teachers, and setting goals and practices for the year ahead.
The Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) fair took place on Thursday, and this gave students the opportunity to sign up for any of the wide range of activities, athletics, sports, clubs, and music groups that are on offer. There are 33 of these ECAs in Season 1. One addition this year is that students can propose their own activity, to run during the extended lunchtime, allowing for student agency, choice and voice, along with the responsibility of running a club. Sign-ups for the ECAs should be done by students, and completed by Aug 24th, and those ECAs will start from Sept 2nd (Athletics starts already from Monday Aug 19th).
Camps
We have already started talking about Camps, as these take place in September this year:
Year 11 Camp is Sept 9-13
Year 6-10 Camp is Sept 23-27
Year 12 Camp takes place after their Diploma exams in May.
The Secondary Office is collecting essential ID details for these camps. For parents of students in Years 6 and 7 – please check the email from Managebac. For parents of students in Years 8-11, there is a paper copy that was sent home to collect this information. Please can this be returned by Aug 21st. More details about the camps will be shared next week.
Parent Information Session on August 26th 3:30 – 5:00pm
All parents are warmly invited to the Parent Information Session on August 26th. The focus for this is to meet the Heads of Year and homeroom teachers of each Year level. There will be an opening Welcome from the Head of School and Head of Secondary in the MFH at 3:30pm, before breaking out into Year level meetings.
