Dear UISG Families, 

As we gear up for the third week of school, I want to take a moment to celebrate the fantastic start we’ve had this year! It was such a joy meeting many of our new and returning families during the Primary ‘Meet Your Teacher’ sessions. Thank you for bringing your energy and enthusiasm—it truly makes UISG a vibrant and welcoming community! 

This week is packed with exciting activities, and I encourage everyone to stay connected and involved with the school. One of the highlights will be our UPTA All Parent Meeting this Friday. This is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the amazing things we have planned for the year ahead, share your ideas, and collaborate on ways to support our students’ success. Your voices matter, and we can’t wait to hear from you! 

And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the upcoming UPTA Welcome Picnic on September 7th! Get ready for a day filled with family fun, games, activities, food, and entertainment. It’s the perfect way to kick off the new year together!

Another amazing week at UISG! Thank you thank you thank you to all the parents that were able to attend the ‘Meet the Teacher’ and ‘Mix and Mingle’ events this week. It was wonderful to see parents on campus and I hope we can have many more events like this. 

Class Reps 

A big thank you to all the parents who have already signed up to be Class Reps for their child’s homeroom. This is an extremely valuable role that support the home-school partnership. We are still looking for some parents from different classes, if you’d like to take on this role, please email Chantelle or the Primary Office.

Parent Passes 

We can’t wait to have more parent events on campus. To ensure smooth entry into school, please make sure to wear your yellow parent pass. Any parent who does not already have a parent pass should email reception at parentpass@uisgz.org to organise one. 

Parent Workshops 

As stated in our definition of High Quality Learning and Teaching, here at UISG, we are firm believers in lifelong learning. Therefore, we invite and encourage parents to learn with and form our dedicated team of educators. We are starting to build our Parent Learning Workshop schedule for this coming year but would like more information from YOU so we can best suit your needs. 

Please complete this Parent Learning Workshop form by Friday 30th August.

Year 3 –5 Student Passes 

From the Parent/Student handbook: 

12.13.2 Student Passes for Years 3-5: Walking to/from School 三至五年级学生走路接送卡 

Parents may request a student pass allowing year 3 – 5 students to enter and leave school unaccompanied by an adult. This is usually for students living in the neighboring area that wish to leave through Gate C or E. 

家长可以申请学生走路接送卡，并同意允许三至五年级的学生在没有成人陪同的情况下进出学校规定的门口。这通常是为住在学校附近地区的学生准备的，他们被允许能从 C 门或 E 门进出上学或者放学。 

To obtain a pass: 
如何办理: 

• Parents must email the primary office or Head of Primary to give written permission for their child to enter/leave gates C or E unaccompanied following the normal school operating hours. 家长必须通过发送电子邮件到小学办公室或小学校长处，以书面许可他们的孩子在上学或者放学时间内同意无人陪同进入/离开学校的 C 或 E 门。 

The request should include: 要求包括以下内容: 

• The full name of the child and grade level, 请提供孩子的全名和班级 
• The gate that will be used, 想申请哪个门口进出 
• The home address that the child will be walking to/from, 您的家庭住址 
• Applicable dates that the pass will be valid for (i.e.semester1), 学生走路接送卡的有效期(即一个学期) 
• Emergency name & contact number, 紧急联系人姓名与电话号码 
• Full name of the parent requesting the pass. 家长需提供您的全名 
• Reception/Facilities will create a pass and inform security accordingly, 由前台人员制卡/并告知保安人员

• Must stay on the paths and ensure they walk home, 必须按规定路线走路回家 
• The pass will only apply to the child listed and not friends, 学生走路接送卡仅由限本人 
• Should not litter or cause unrest in the community, 保持好校园整洁并遵守纪律 
• Leave school at 3:20 or 5pm on ECA days and go straight home, 请在下午3 点 20 分放学时间/ECA 活动日下午 5 点结束后准时回家 
• May not remain on campus past 3:20 unless they are in an ECA, 不得在下午 3 点 20 分放学后还逗留学校，除非有 ECA 活动日 
• Cannot enter the tennis courts or swimming pool under any circumstances. 在任何没有得到允许的情况下都不能进入网球场或游泳池。

We value all communication we get from parents. Communication is extremely important for an ongoing partnership to best support children. If you have feedback or concerns, please contact me or the teachers any time. This can be in any language you feel most comfortable in.

26 Aug – 30 Aug (Week 3A) 

Dear Parents and Guardians, 

As we have a two-week timetable in Secondary, we have now completed one full cycle of that, and students have a good sense of what their schedule looks like. It has been impressive to see the Year 6s and 7s so quickly come to grips with life in the Secondary school, as well as seeing the Year 12s right back into their focus on their studies. 

Our new Year 6 cohort  

On Thursdays of Week B, Year levels meet together and have a period of “IB Hour”. This gives a chance to work on specific IB matters like the Personal Project, Service as Action or Extended Essay, as well as an opportunity for the Year level to come together and connect.

• Cross Country – Monday/Wednesday 
• Student Council – Monday (lunchtimes) 
• Swimming – Monday/Wednesday 
• MUN (Wednesday lunchtimes)

Parent Information Session on August 26th 3:30 – 5:00pm 

Information has been sent to parents regarding the Parent Information Session on August 26th on Managebac and by email. If you have not yet signed up to attend, I encourage you to do so. Please complete the form to let us know if you will be joining us. It is a great opportunity to connect with your child’s homeroom teacher, as well as other parents in your child’s homeroom.
