2nd Annual Middle School Semi-Formal Dance

On the evening of Friday, 24 April, UISG buzzed with anticipation as middle school students stayed after dismissal, armed with schoolbags, a change of clothes, and boundless excitement. This was the beginning of the 2nd Annual Middle School Semi-Formal Dance—an evening entirely planned by students, for students.
For the second consecutive year, students from across UISG Secondary School volunteered for the Planning Committee, dedicating break times, lunch periods, and evenings at home to create an unforgettable experience for their Middle Years Programme peers. From selecting the theme to curating the playlist, designing decorations, and choosing the menu, every detail reflected student vision and creativity.

As the event started, students entered a transformed venue, decorated by the hard work of the Decorations subcommittee. Tables were set, hot food awaited, and the music began. Student DJs rotated through three shifts, delivering nonstop energy that kept the dance floor packed all night long.

Beyond dancing and dining, students enjoyed trivia competitions and an intense game of musical chairs—all student-led activities. Winners earned extra raffle tickets for a chance at nearly 30 prizes. The evening’s highlight? The final lucky draw, where one thrilled student took home a 70 cm tall Hello Kitty plush doll.

After four hours of food, music, dancing, and prizes, the 2026 Middle School Semi-Formal Dance concluded. Students departed in high spirits—some with even more energy than when they arrived.

This annual dance celebrates the dedication UISG students demonstrate across all aspects of school life: from academics to sports, Performing Arts to MUN, and Visual Arts to Sciences. It’s an evening that honors their hard work and gives them a well-deserved opportunity to celebrate together.
