Friday 7 June 2024 marked one week left in the 2023 – 2024 Academic year, it also marked the Year 7 End of school Field Trip. The Class of 2029 celebrated the closing of their first year in the UISG Secondary School by attending the premiere of the new film, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”. Students travelled by bus to Grandview Mall, a AAAA rated Tourist Attraction by the China National Tourism Administration.
Upon entering the mall it is easy to see why such a high rating is given, with boundless shops and activities for children and adults, it would be easy to spend days exploring all the museums, stores, and endless restaurants offered to patrons. Year 7 students entered via the Southeast Gate and were welcome by Grandview Malls security guards escorting students to the elevator with direct access to the 7th Floor Cinema. Within minutes of entering the mall, students arrived at the IMAX Movie Cinema and were ordering snacks and movie foods in preparation for their film.
Students were treated to a celebratory meal of McDonalds and Pizza, where McDonalds staff and employees reserved tables for UISG students to come and enjoy their meals together. After a lively year with students engrossed in many facets of UISG life from Visual Arts and Music Performances to Athletic Retreats and Academic studies, students took this time to sit, eat, and enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation. This time was dedicated to celebrating their achievements and hard work. As lunch ended, students took the elevators back down to the Southeast Gate for final photos of each homeroom and a final Year 7 photo.
As the academic year comes to a close, students gathered together to sing, Auld Lang Syne, a final song reminding them of all the experiences, friends, and memories they gained over the course of the past 10 months. This song, much like this excursion is a testament to friendships new and old, and memories good and bad, reminding us about the beauty of life, family, and friendship.
